When you decide to take a healthier approach to your eating habits, one thing you may learn is that you are what you eat. Meaning the foods you consume, whether good or bad, become a part of you. Nutritious food gives essential vitamins and minerals that our bodies need to maintain health and may help prevent certain sicknesses and diseases. While unhealthy foods lack nutrition and may contribute to sickness and disease. Therefore what we put in our bodies, eventually manifests as health and wellness or sickeness and disease. I have come to realize this also applies to other aspects of life, such as mentally and spiritually. Whatever we “feed” our minds and souls manifests itself in one way or the other and becomes a part of us, and what we will eventually produce.

This is exactly why the Bible says in Philippians chapter 4 verse 8 to think about what is true and pure and honest and lovely and of good report; God knows we need to fill our minds and souls with goodness. Because of past negative circumstances in my life, I took on a negative thought process and constantly spoke negatively.  My thoughts always led to the worst case scenario and I felt completely helpless and hopeless. In recent years I decided to take a class that helps with understanding the process of changing negativity and also teaches certain life skills. One of the most interesting things I learned was about how the process of positive self-talk changes your life. I found it profound and fascinating because it confirms how time and again the Bible teaches of speaking positive. Basically, it taught that Medicine, Science, Psychology, and the Bible, agree that speaking positive, thinking positive, and being positive, changes your life and can promote good physical mental, and spiritual health.

The best way I have found to be a more positive person is by reading, studying, speaking, and praying the words I find in the Bible. If you seek the truths within the Bible, it will change your life! God’s Word is not only an inspirational book, but it is full of guidance, and direction, hope and promises and it is full of God’s love and promises. It exhorts us that we should put evil speaking, and malice away from us. It teaches that grievous words stir up anger.  It tells us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds.  It teaches that ‘keeping’ your tongue also keeps your soul from trouble.  And It shows us the love that God has for us.  I have worked hard to learn to speak positively,  think positive and overall be a more positive person. With God’s help and the Bible as my guide I feel like I have truly experienced a transformation of my way of thinking and my life, and you can as well.
